The Osoyoos Lake Water Quality Society was founded in 1991 by community members to help promote public awareness of the lake, covering issues such as conservation, pollution, and lake management. It is a nonpolitical, non-profit charitable organization run entirely by volunteers.

Besides helping to educate the public about water quality concerns, during the summer the team bi-weekly monitors the health of the lake taking temperature readings, noting oxygen levels, taking water samples looking for invasive species. A large concern at the moment is keeping invasive mussels and clams out of our lake.
