Our Mission

The mission of the Osoyoos Museum Society is to collect, preserve, research, document, interpret and exhibit artifacts and archival records of historic significance to the area. We serve the community of Osoyoos and its visitors by carrying out these functions in addition to organizing events to promote the Osoyoos & District Museum and Archives.

About OSOYOOS MUSEUM SOCIETY

The Osoyoos Museum was established in 1963 to tell the general story of the Osoyoos area from its geographical formation to present day and, more specifically, the non-native settlement of the area.  The main goal of the museum is to portray the faces, voices, stories and events which have helped shape our community through a focus on three themes: The Land, The People, and The Industries.

In 2020, the museum began the move to, and renovation of, a new location across from Town Hall in Osoyoos.  Detailed plans were developed for a new, exciting museum which will meet the needs of residents and visitors alike.  The calculated cost of $2.5 million for the renovation, was raised through donations, grants, fundraising, and community support. On June 17, 2023 the Osoyoos Museum Society and the community of Osoyoos celebrated the official grand opening of the Osoyoos & District Museum and Archives at 8702 Main Street.

As the museum moves forward donations and fundraising efforts continue to support the ongoing operational expenses of the museum.
