Pleasant Heights After School
Pleasant Heights After School (PHAS) was one of the first childcare agencies to provide before and after school care for families in northwest Calgary. PHAS opened its first location in a church hall basement in 1976 to care for 30 elementary school age children from King George School in Mount Pleasant.
With growing demand, a second location was opened at the Mount Pleasant Community Association Hall in 1999 for children at St. Joseph School.
PHAS expanded again in 2010 in response to a growing need for before and after school childcare in Panorama Hills and opened a third location in Panorama Hills School.
Today, PHAS provides childcare to over 250 children in kindergarten to grade 6 across all three locations.
Over the years, PHAS has delivered innovative and age-appropriate care to thousands of children ages 5 to 12. Our diverse and innovative programs support families and meet the needs of children in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. From physical literacy to arts and crafts, PHAS activities are designed to help children become strong, independent, life-long learners. PHAS intentionally incorporates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) concepts into all our school-age programs. STEAM programs are designed to engage young minds and develop practical skills through curiosity and self-directed discovery.
PHAS follows the Alberta Childcare Framework called Flight and are formally trained in this, in addition to being a licensed after-school program.
