"...we are committed to serving needs and fostering talents of people...especially of those not easily accepted elsewhere, through our therapeutic community at Providence Farm. Our focus shall be upon the renewal of body and spirit, and upon people caring for the soil, and the soil nurturing the people."
About Providence Farm
We are a working organic farm and registered charity dedicated to restoring the spirit and skills of those with physical, mental, and emotional challenges, including brain injuries, developmental disabilities, and aging-related challenges and dementias. Providence Farm provides innovative programs in Horticultural Therapy and Vocational Training in our Community Kitchen, Nursery/Greenhouse, Market Gardens, Arts & Recreation, Textiles, Small Engine Repair, Furniture Shoppe, General Store, and seniors' program.
Friendships, skills development, improved health, and a sense of well-being are made possible by dedicated staff and dozens volunteers at the Farm. The freedom to 'be' and to make mistakes, and an accepting and respectful community make the Farm a place that is life-giving.
The Farm is also home to partner organizations including the Therapeutic Riding Assoc., the Cowichan Valley Alternate School, the Cowichan Folk Guild, and the Vancouver Island University Culinary Arts Program and teaching restaurant, 'The Farm Table'.
