•To provide a safe, secure “hands on” interactive learning environment of safety training for local kids at risk through the a "Tell Me, Show Me & Involve Me" approach to learning with police, fire, emergency medical service providers, and other professionals.
•To raise awareness with community sponsors to support and donate to the development of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village.
•To continue to promote safety for the prevention of injury for children.
About CHATHAM-KENT CHILDREN'S SAFETY VILLAGE
Located in the beautiful wilderness of the C.M. Wilson Conservation Area, the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village has been teaching injury prevention to local primary school children since 2006. It is a non-profit organization that has partnered with Chatham-Kent Emergency Services, the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, Chatham-Kent Hydro, the Chatham-Kent Farm Safety Association and other safety professionals, to provide state of the art safety programs. Currently programming is provided for youth in grades 1, 4 and 6. All programs presented are set as per the Ontario School Curriculum guidelines. Students attend the safety village, free of charge, during the school year with their teachers and classes. Donations needed to run programs.
