About Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority
Established in 2004 by the Palliative Care program of the Interlake Regional Health Authority, Camp Stepping Stones is a unique weekend camp held annually in June for children and adolescents between the ages of 7 and 17 who have experienced the recent death of someone significant in their lives.
Approximately 50 children from the Interlake and the rest of Manitoba attend camp on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. The concept for Camp Stepping Stones was patterned after similar camps for children across North America, and was the first of its kind in Manitoba. Over 30 trained volunteers, many of whom are Interlake RHA staff, return year after year to help out at camp. We strive to raise enough money so that every child can attend camp free of charge. This equates to about $200 per child for the three day camp.
