When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, many emergency meals programs in Kamloops completely shut down. A few have started up again doing take-away meals, but there is no breakfast program available anywhere and many people have no access to a morning meal. The Smorgasbord Deli, Kamloops Covid Meal Train, and the Kamloops Alliance Church have partnered up to help alleviate this situation. They are now providing 100 breakfasts per day, 6 days a week to vulnerable populations that are food & home insecure (homeless, seniors and the disabled). The staff at the Smorgasbord prepare the meals and volunteers with the Kamloops Covid Meal train take them to the Kamloops Alliance Church, where they are distributed to folks in need.
The Kamloops Food Policy Council is supporting this effort by collecting the donations and issuing tax receipts. This is the only free breakfast meal available in Kamloops right now! Your donations will help this much-needed program continue to run.
