About NOVA SCOTIA COUNCIL FOR THE FAMILY

EDUCATION

Amanda's Gift Bursary Program was established from a $500 donation from former youth in care, Amanda Sutherland, who struggled financially to purse her educational goals. . She asked the Council to use the money to provide financial assistance to other youth from care, ages 16-28 who were also struggling financially to complete their post-secondary education.  From this single $500 donation  this program has grown significantly over the years and the Council has awarded over $265,000 in bursaries to former youth in care across Nova Scotia.
