In response to COVID 19 and our school community who can not access student nutrition at schools while they are closed, Nutrition for Learning has responded by delivering food to various school locations in Waterloo Region to ensure students can continue to be able to access essential nutritious snacks and food items while schools are closed.
Each morning starting at time and location to be posted on the Nutrition for Learning website and social media channels our Nutrition for Learning vehicles will be offering free nutritious snacks like yogurt, granola bars and cheese strings to Waterloo Region students. Pick up locations will be listed daily on our website at: www.nutritionforlearning.ca/popupsnacks
Nutrition for Learning will have volunteers to meet students at various posted locations, but no congregating around the van/ truck will be allowed and we will ensure participants maintain social distancing (keeping 2 arms’ lengths or 2 meters between each student).
All Nutrition for Learning staff and volunteers have police vulnerable sector checks and abide by all public health safety rules.
“We know our volunteers, teachers and supporters want us to be there for the students and we know how important it is to ensure our community overall safety first, as well as our staff, the kids, and the food. All the items we distribute will be sealed and handled safely. As long as we can, financially and physically, we will continue to provide healthy nutritious snack throughout Waterloo Region.” states Mary D’Alton at Nutrition for Learning.
