This December, PARC is collecting gifts for the Winter Solstice celebration at the Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre (PARC).
PARC is a community centre on Queen Street West in Toronto, where members find a drop-in, free meals, supportive housing, harm reduction services and low-barrier recreational programming. Each year, the Winter Solstice celebration marks the longest night with a shared meal and celebration. Gifts are secured for the members and raffled off to members.
Two ways to give
Drop off a gift. Bring a new item to 1499 Queen Street West by Wednesday, December 16. Think of something you’d be glad to receive yourself, a little more special than the everyday:
- A small luxury: good chocolate, specialty tea or coffee, a nice hand cream
- Something practical and well made: a warm sweater, a sturdy bag or backpack, quality gloves
- Something unexpected: an old smartphone that still connects to wifi, wiped and with its charger
Donate on this page. Donations here go toward gift cards for members at the celebration, so people choose what they need. Anything raised beyond what the celebration needs supports PARC’s year-round programs.
