REACH ensures children have the opportunity to experience the importance of belonging, participating with typical kids in recreation activities while at the same time building life skills to help them succeed in the future.
Working with a variety of partners (35) in integration throughout the province of Ontario, REACH serves as a navigation support system for participants, families, partners and social service agencies which facilitates inclusive recreational opportunities and respite time for those with disabilities from ages 4 – 24.
REACH provides comprehensive in-take assessments for participants, the specialized training of 1:1 support counsellors, both in a recreation setting and a camp setting to meet the individual needs of each participant, the arrangement of accessible transportation and the loan of special adaptive equipment (terra treks, harnesses, joggers, lifts, etc.). As a result of these services and support, REACH further provides the opportunity for essential respite service to families and care givers. Additionally, REACH develops and provides customized training in the area of inclusive program development and delivery to its program partners.
Reach serves families in five distinct regions in Ontario: Toronto/GTA, Southwestern Ontario, Simcoe/Muskoka, the Hamilton/Niagara region and Eastern Ontario.
REACH has proven wholeheartedly that the rewards to children and youth with disabilities are not outweighed by the equal benefits to typical children and youth, their families and the community at large. In short, healthy families make for healthy kids, resulting in healthy communities. Without exception we believe ALL children and youth belong.
Tell a young person with disabilities that they belong and open up a world of possibilities for all of us. Visit www.reachforinclusion.ca today for more information.
