At Sadie’s Place for Innovative Inclusion we share our gifts, hearts, and passions to re-connect, re-vision, and re-new places in communities where persons labelled with disabilities and all of us thrive. Our focus is on creating bridges or relationships that promote inclusion and celebrate differences (of all kinds) between individuals and organizations in community.
We direct our energy into 3 pillars of practice:
1. Bridges to Community—we offer direct support to create meaningful engagement for adults with developmental disabilities who have complex needs, aiming to strengthen relationships and provide opportunities for mutual growth.
2. INclusion by PRESS—our button-making social enterprise. We design, press and sell buttons (pins, mirrors, magnets) to individuals and grassroots, non-profit, and for-profit community organizations. Images and words on the buttons are used to promote awareness and spark conversations that celebrate inclusion, diversity, and community well-being.
3. Living INclusion experiential education sessions encourage dialogue and learning about inclusion with members of community.
Our three areas of service delivery come together in an integrative fashion. For example, through Bridges to Community collaborative artwork we create is integrated into button designs through our button-making social enterprise INclusion by PRESS which contributes to our local economy. We hope that our buttons help to spark conversations about inclusion in community. These experiences are then used to help others learn about our collaborative process and how to create relationships of inclusion through our Living INclusion experiential education sessions. Together our three pillars of practice help us to bridge creative leisure, work, knowledge development about inclusion, and transform inclusion in community.
