Soulocentric Performing Arts Society

about

Our Mission

Soulocentric is a performing arts company that knows no boundaries between theatre, dance and music. We love to create original works in all of these performance disciplines and even like to mix them together in each of our shows to engage our audience with a diversified performance that will speak to the soul on many different levels. We aim to expose music lovers to dance, dance lovers to theatre, theatre lovers to music- arts lovers to more arts! And we cherish our local artists and strive to showcase their talents at every opportunity.

Soulocentric Performing Arts Society is a small company that has been in existence since 2002. We run the "Soulocentric Festival" annually, which features solo performance and showcases new, original works by independent artists working in theatre, dance, music and multi-media. We also run "Bach, Tots and Tiptoes" which brings regular performing arts programming to parents/caregivers with babies, tots and pre-schoolers. Through this program we are the only performing arts organizations in Alberta producing shows specifically for families with children aged 0-3.

About Soulocentric Performing Arts Society

Bach, Tots and Tiptoes is an interactive, showcase bringing the performing arts to babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers. Each event contains a watch-and-learn component, allowing children and adult alike to be exposed to a wide variety of artists and show styles, and an interactive component, in which children are invited to participate and can explore creative play. Since launching this program in Fall 2011, BTT has presented Ballet, Ukrainian dance, classical Indian dance, Violin, Trumpet, Flamenco guitar, ballroom, physical theatre and more to families with very young children.

The Soulocentric Festival puts the "soul" on-stage. It offers independent artists producing new works a chance to showcase their talents and develop their careers. It features theatre, dance, music, multi-media performance, interdisciplinary theatre, physical theatre, and more. It runs every Fall primarily at the Vertigo Studio Theatre in Calgary.
