The Sound Atlas Festival is Calgary's landmark contemporary art music festival - an experimental adventure in sound taking place in Calgary each June. SAF offers composers, artists, and our treasured community an annual sonic pilgrimage, exploring the best of today’s art music through world-class and unforgettable concert experiences. Hosted by the powerhouse mixed chamber ensemble Latitude 49 and co-directed by Jani Parsons and Chris Sies, Sound Atlas festival takes place at Contemporary Calgary, a vibrant destination dedicated to modern and contemporary art.
Together, we seek to create a meeting place for creative minds including composers, acclaimed and emerging artists, and adventurous listeners. We seek to celebrate the creation and performance of remarkable new music by living composers, and to present a powerful journey of expression, moving freely to challenge, delight, and engage.
Gifts to Sound Atlas Festival directly contribute to artist fees, travel and accommodations for artists and composers, educational initiatives through the Contemporary Performance Lab, commissioning new works, rentals and operational costs, and administrative costs associated with running the festival. We are so appreciative of your support of the creation and performance of new music!
