Lindsay Stead has always been fascinated by the natural world. As a child her summers were spent studying every wild creature she could find – from frogs and snakes to dragonflies and birds. Lindsay is also a talented quilt maker with a large following for her fabulous fabric art. She has decided to bring her two passions together by making a striking quilt for WCS Canada, which she will be gifting to one of our lucky donors in an effort to raise support for caribou conservation.
Caribou are a symbol of Canada’s north, but even in our most northern areas, caribou are declining and habitat is disappearing. Your donation will help us to:
- Continue our studies of the effects of resource development, including logging, mining and roads, and climate change on caribou.
- Help our work to inform resource managers and governments about how they can manage these and other activities to reduce impacts on caribou.
- Document the need for stronger action to protect caribou habitat before herds reach the point of no return.
To enter Lindsay's contest and support caribou conservation in Canada, simply make a minimum donation of $25 CAD to WCS Canada. For every $25 donation, you will be entered in a draw to take home this beautifully designed quilt. Alternatively, you can post a photo of yourself on Instagram, volunteering for a wildlife conservation organization and include the hashtag #wcsquiltfundraiser to be entered in the draw.
We are so grateful to Lindsay for helping WCS Canada through her exquisite art. She has spent hundreds of hours handcrafting this very special piece, all to help save caribou and the wild places they inhabit.
