It’s a chance to share the tools you love with charities you believe in, and get rewarded along the way.

Refer them to CanadaHelps before September 15, 2025. When they successfully register and begin fundraising, both you and the referred charity will unlock exclusive rewards.

What is a Successful Referral?

A referral is considered to be successful once the referred charity is registered, active, and fundraising with CanadaHelps.

You will receive the referral rewards if:

  • The referred organization is a CRA-registered charity
  • They begin fundraising between Sept 15 – Nov 15, 2025, using at least one of our tools: Customizable Donation Forms (CDFs), Event, or Peer-to-peer (P2P) AND
  • They raise $5 or more in revenue between that time period via our CDF, Event, or P2P tools

Once these criteria are met, your rewards will be confirmed and delivered after Nov 15, 2025. We’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

What You’ll Receive

As a thank you, when your referral leads to a successful registration, you will receive a transaction fee rebate and be spotlighted to our donor base on our platform. Here are the details.

1.5% Rebate on Transaction Fees

You’re already raising revenue with CanadaHelps. Now, you can do so while saving on costs. When your referred charity registers and begins raising funds with us:

  • Your organization will receive a 1.5% rebate on your platform transaction fees raised via CDFs, Events, and/or P2P tool
  • Based on donation volume for 2 months (from Sept 15 – Nov 15, 2025)
  • Up to a $500 maximum per successful referral
  • This reward will be paid out in a lump sum after Nov 15, 2025

A Spotlight Feature on CanadaHelps

We believe great work deserves to be seen. When your referred charity registers and begins raising funds with us, your charity will be featured on one of our charity and donor-facing channels. The channels are:

  • Blog
  • Newsletter
  • CanadaHelps Curated Charity Listing Pages
  • Social Posts
  • Giving Season Priority Placements
  • Video Content, Multi-Channel

These features shine a spotlight on your mission, impact, and story and will be shared with thousands of supporters and peers. Once a referral is successful, we’ll reach out to you to craft the content for this feature.

What is the CanadaHelps Charity Referral Program?
It’s our way of saying thank you for helping other charities go digital with their fundraising. When you refer an eligible CRA-registered charity to CanadaHelps and they start fundraising with us, you’ll receive rewards.

Eligibility & Referrals

Who is eligible to be referred?

Any CRA-registered charity that:

  • Is not currently registered with CanadaHelps OR
  • Has registered but has not set up the following tools:

    • Customizable Donation Forms (CDF)
    • Events
    • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising

When you make a referral, we will let you know if or not the charity you referred is eligible for this program.

What is the deadline to refer a charity?
Referrals must be submitted by September 15, 2025, using the official referral form

Can I refer more than one charity?
Yes! There’s no limit. Each successful referral qualifies for a separate reward. For more details, see the below FAQ on rewards for multiple successful referrals.

What if the charity I refer already uses those fundraising tools?
Only charities that haven’t set up our CDF, P2P, or Events tools are eligible. If they already use these tools, they unfortunately won’t qualify for this program. However, if they are registered with us but haven’t started using these tools, they are considered eligible. When you make a referral, we will let you know if or not the charity you referred is eligible for this program.

How do I submit a referral?

Successful Referral Criteria

What counts as a successful referral?
A referred charity must:

  • Be CRA-registered
  • Have newly registered with CanadaHelps, and earned $5 between Sept 15 – Nov 15, 2025 via CDF, Event, or P2P tools OR
  • Had prior registration but only set up and earned $5 between Sept 15 – Nov 15, 2025 via CDF, Event, or P2P tools

What if my referred charity signs up but doesn’t raise funds?
Only referrals that result in $5+ raised via the eligible tools by the deadline are considered successful.

Rewards & Incentives

What rewards do I get for a successful referral?
You will receive a 1.5% transaction fee rebate for 2 months up to $500, and a charity spotlight on one of our charity and donor-facing channels, per referral.

  • Here is how the transaction fee rebate is calculated:

    • 1.5% rebate applies to platform transaction fees on CDF, Events, and P2P tools
    • Calculated based on donation volume for 2 months (Sept 15 to Nov 15, 2025)
    • Capped at $500 per successful referral
    • Paid out as a lump-sum reimbursement after Nov 15, 2025
  • Here is what the spotlight feature includes:

    • The spotlight feature includes visibility on one donor and charity-facing channel per successful referral. The channels are:

      • Blog
      • Newsletter
      • CanadaHelps Curated Charity Listing Pages
      • Social Posts
      • Giving Season Priority Placements
      • Video Content, Multi-Channel

The CanadaHelps team will reach out after Nov 15, 2025, to confirm the reward and collaborate on creating the spotlight feature. We will confirm which specific channel, based on availability and collaboration.

When will I receive my reward?
All rewards will be confirmed and shared after Nov 15, 2025, once eligibility is confirmed and the referred charity is actively fundraising.

When will the spotlight be published?
Spotlights are scheduled according to the CanadaHelps content calendar. Timing and format are subject to editorial discretion and availability.

What’s the full referral process?
  1. Referrer submits eligible charity via the referral form by Sept 15, 2025
  2. CanadaHelps contacts the referred charity
  3. Referred charity registers and/or begins fundraising with eligible tools
  4. If they raise $5+ between Sept 15 – Nov 15, 2025, the referral is marked successful
  5. Rewards issued to referrer and referee after Nov 15, 2025

Do I receive rewards for every successful referral?
Yes, you receive a reward for every successful referral. For eg, if your referrals lead to 3 successful referrals, your organization will receive:

  • A 1.5% transaction fee rebate for 2 months up to $1,500
  • And a Spotlight on 3 CanadaHelps channels

Other Questions

Are referral rewards taxable?
No. Referral rewards—like fee rebates and promotional features—aren’t considered taxable income for registered charities and shouldn’t trigger CRA reporting, as long as they’re used to support your organization’s charitable work.

Can I refer my own organization using a different email or name?
Self-referrals are not allowed and will result in disqualification from the program.

What if my colleague and I both refer the same charity?
If the referral is successful, your charity will receive the reward for that referral once. Rewards are issued per referred charity, not per individual within the same organization.

What if my colleague and I refer different charities?
If both referrals are successful, your charity will be eligible for rewards for each successful referral — there’s no limit to how many eligible charities you can refer.

Terms & Conditions

This referral program is available to select CanadaHelps customers only. Eligible referrers have been chosen based on their active use of our fundraising tools, engagement with CanadaHelps marketing activities, and are in good standing as customers.

To qualify as an eligible referral, the referring charity must submit the referral by September 15, 2025. The referred charity must be a CRA-registered charity that has not set up CanadaHelps’ Customizable Donation Forms (CDFs), Events, or Peer-to-Peer (P2P) tools.

A successful referral is one in which the referred charity registers with CanadaHelps and raises a minimum of $5 using at least one of the following tools: CDF. Events, or P2P, between Sept 15 – Nov 15, 2025. All rewards will be shared with the recipients after Nov 15, 2025.

Referral Rewards:

Rewards are offered as part of this program. These benefits are intended to support charitable work and do not constitute personal gain. As such, they are not considered taxable income by the CRA and should not trigger any special reporting requirements when used appropriately by the registered charity.

Misuse & Disqualification:

CanadaHelps prohibits self-referrals and misuse of the program. Examples of prohibited conduct include, but are not limited to:

  • Referring your own organization under a different name or email.
  • Creating multiple fake referrals.
  • Using misleading claims or unauthorized CanadaHelps branding.
  • Spamming individuals or organizations with unsolicited or irrelevant referral requests.

CanadaHelps reserves the right to modify or terminate the program at any time, and to disqualify participants who violate these terms. In the event of program termination or significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice.

If you are disqualified from participating in the referral program and believe this was in error, you are welcome to contact us to discuss or appeal the decision. We are committed to maintaining a fair and transparent process for all participants.

Privacy & Data Use:

Information collected through this referral program will be used to communicate with both the referring and referred charities about the program and may be used for CanadaHelps marketing purposes. Charities can unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time. We are committed to handling all personal and organizational data responsibly, with industry-standard safeguards in place to ensure data privacy and security.
