Generosity Spotlight Program

Any Canadian registered charity is welcome to submit for consideration. While priority placements are reserved for charities registered with CanadaHelps, there are opportunities for non-CanadaHelps registered charities as well.

Feature placements vary and depend on our editorial calendar, campaign themes, and available opportunities across CanadaHelps channels. Our team will work with you to determine the best fit based on what is possible and available at the time of submission.

Timing is determined by the CanadaHelps editorial and campaign calendar. Once your charity's participation in the program is confirmed, our team will reach out with the next steps and timing. Please note that there may be a wait period between submission and publication, depending on current editorial commitments.

No. All Generosity Spotlight placements are organic opportunities offered at no cost to charities. There are no fees to apply or be featured. This is our way of supporting the charities and communities we serve.

It's not required. We follow up with the team members about charities that may have reached out to them. If you'd like to also submit the form, please feel free to do so.

Promoted Content Overview

There are many ways for charities to promote their missions through CanadaHelps. This includes using our core fundraising tools such as custom donation forms and gift-guide campaigns, as well as adding campaigns to the CanadaHelps Crisis Relief Centre for urgent humanitarian efforts. The Generosity Spotlight program is a specialized initiative designed to ensure charities’ causes are highlighted in impactful ways, helping them connect with new supporters and drive meaningful engagement across our digital ecosystem.

The Generosity Spotlight Program

1. Registered Charities: Charities registered with CanadaHelps may be considered for featured placements in blogs, newsletters, promotional matches, and specially themed landing pages, along with priority placement in relevant social media campaigns.
2. Non-Registered Organizations: For those not yet registered, CanadaHelps may support reach through social media content when topics and themes align with our editorial calendar. Such support is discretionary and does not constitute an endorsement.

Placements and Timing

Promotional placement is not guaranteed. Selection is based on a charity’s alignment with current thematic topics, CanadaHelps’ strategic direction, audience relevance, and the commitments outlined in this policy.

• Editorial Control: The timing and location of placements are determined solely by CanadaHelps through ongoing editorial planning.
• Content Requirements: Feature placements are contingent upon the charity’s ability to provide necessary materials (stories, data, or media) to produce high-quality content.
• Co-Promotion: Charities may be showcased alongside others with complementary, values-aligned missions. CanadaHelps will not knowingly feature organizations in a manner that creates conflicts of interest or competing objectives.

Commitment to Diversity

At CanadaHelps, we celebrate the generosity and compassion that enrich communities across Canada. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment that highlights acts of giving without promoting divisiveness or hate.

• Representation Matters: We prioritize featuring stories from a wide range of backgrounds, with a specific focus on amplifying equity-deserving groups, including Black-led, 2SLGBTQ+-led, and disability-led organizations.
• Our Stance: We stand firmly against racism and champion inclusivity for all communities facing discrimination.
• Neutrality: CanadaHelps remains secular and unaffiliated with any political party. While our organizational values may not always align with every charity in Canada, we firmly support every registered charity's right to fundraise and ensure our tools remain accessible to all.

Supporting Indigenous-Led Charities

In the spirit of Reconciliation and in alignment with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, we take extra care regarding topics related to Indigenous communities. We ensure that any charity featured in this context has been reviewed in consultation with our Indigenous partners and prioritizes Indigenous leadership and community-led solutions.

Charity Support and Digital Maturity

We recognize that charities are at different stages of their digital fundraising journey. Our goal is to feature a diverse canvas of digital experiences:

• Accessible Opportunities: We encourage applications from grassroots and small-to-mid-sized charities. We recognize that not all organizations have dedicated marketing teams; where possible, we aim to provide guidance to help smaller organizations meet our content standards.
• Growth Stories: From those just getting started to those using our most advanced fundraising tools, we aim to share stories that reflect the various ways charities grow. Previously featured charities may be invited to share "follow-up" stories as their work evolves.

Communications

When a charity is selected for a placement, a CanadaHelps representative will reach out directly. Due to the high volume of interest, we are unfortunately unable to contact charities that are not selected for a specific campaign. CanadaHelps reserves the right to remove or suspend a featured charity’s content at any time, including if a charity’s registration status is revoked after publication, or if we become aware that a charity or their representatives' actions would bring reputational harm to CanadaHelps or other featured charities.

Accuracy

Charities are responsible for ensuring all materials they supply CanadaHelps are truthful, up to date, and compliant with applicable laws, including copyright. We are not responsible for the accuracy, or completeness of information provided by participating charities and featured in promotional content.

Continuous Improvement

Our goal is to shine a light on generosity while reflecting the rich diversity of voices throughout Canada. We value feedback from our community and reserve the right to amend this policy at any time.
