Make change with spare change!

Moka and CanadaHelps are making it easier to give back with Round Up to Give

As part of CanadaHelps’ mission to inspire giving, we’ve teamed up with Moka to enable donations made through the Moka app, giving Moka users a new way to support the charities they care about.

When you sign up for the Moka app, they round up every purchase you make to donate the spare change to the charity of your choice. It’s now even easier to fit charitable giving into your life and your budget and it’s powered by CanadaHelps.

Frequently Asked Questions

CanadaHelps has always been committed to connecting Canadians to the charities they care about and this partnership provides a new, impactful way to support the charities they care about. In particular, it’s a great way to help Canadians new to giving or on a tight budget, to discover and support any registered Canadian charity.

As always, you can give with confidence, knowing you will receive an official tax receipt and that the funds will be promptly sent to the designated charity.

Moka is formerly known as Mylo, if you already have an account with Mylo your existing round up to give donation goals will remain the same.
When you donate through CanadaHelps, you can access your official tax receipts for the prior year using our tax receipt generator tool or you can access all your receipts anytime in your CanadaHelps account.

When you donate through Mylo’s Round Up to Give, your receipts are available in your Moka app at the end of each month.

Moka charges a $1 per month flat fee to use their platform. Each donation is subject to a processing fee of 2% of your total donation. The fees cover CanadaHelps’ platform and banking fees for processing your donations, and support the work that CanadaHelps does to provide charities with affordable access to online fundraising and educational tools. You always receive a tax receipt for 100% of the value of your donation. The charity receives the amount of your donation less our processing fee.
The average Moka user generates around $10 in roundups per week, but you might generate more or less depending on how frequently you use your debit and credit cards. There are also three ways that you can reach your donation goal faster: give your savings a boost by depositing a lump sum donation to your selected charity, multiply your roundups, or earn $5 towards your goal for every friend you successfully refer to Mylo.
You can sign up for Moka online or through the Moka app. In order to manage your charitable giving as part of Round Up to Give, you must download the Moka iOS app or the Moka Android app. You will need an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 9.3.5 or higher or an Android device running 4.4 or higher. You must also link a minimum of one bank account to the app to get you started on funding your goals.
You can withdraw money from your donation goal anytime, at no cost, but be sure to do this before the last Friday of the month. That’s when Moka submits your donation to CanadaHelps for processing and disbursement to the charity you selected. Like all charitable donations, donations made through the Moka app are non-refundable.
