The St. Mary's College Alumni Association (SMCAA) was established in 2006 when the high school celebrated its 50th Anniversary Reunion.  

The school first opened the doors as St. Mary's College in 1956 by the Basilian Fathers who brought with them a tradition that was already 200 years old. From their founding in France in 1757, the Congregation of the Priests of St. Basil has grown worldwide and today has schools and parishes in Canada, the United States, France, Mexico and Columbia. All of the schools that they have founded share a common motto with St. Mary's - "Teach me Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge".

SMCAA has been sponsoring student scholarships since 2006 giving over 100 awards thru the Mount-St. Mary's Support Fund to recognize students who excel academically, show true school spirit & demonstrate volunteering activities.  Students must be entering their first year post secondary education to receive scholarships awarded through an application process.  Scholarships include:

• The “Carmen Provenzano Leadership” Award(s)
• The “SMC Alumni” Award(s) founded by Rudy Duschek
• The “SMC Alumni” Award(s) in Honour of Wishart Law Firm
• The “Basilian” Award(s) in Honour of the Basilian Fathers
