Email Scam Notification

CanadaHelps has been contacted by a number of individuals regarding an email they received for a $125 donation to Turning Point Society of Central Alberta on September 26. This email is claiming to be sent by PayPal regarding a donation made using CanadaHelps. These are not legitimate emails and were not sent by PayPal or CanadaHelps.

If you have received such an email, we recommend that you report the email and then immediately afterward delete it. You have not been charged as indicated in the email. Do not click any links contained within the email message. You can report the email by forwarding it to spoof@PayPal.com and by contacting the the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or PayPal offers further guidance on identifying suspicious email activity, here.

Our technology department has investigated the message and confirmed that CanadaHelps’ database remains secure. None of the email addresses originate from the CanadaHelps database. We understand the confusion and concern these email scams cause. We will continue to monitor the problem and post any updates here.
