It takes just moments to securely donate bitcoin or ether to one or many of your favourite charities. With one simple transaction, you transfer your cryptocurrency to CanadaHelps and we take care of the rest.
Your donation of cryptocurrency can make a massive difference for your favourite charity. Working with our partner CarbonX, we ensure your donation is carbon neutral by purchasing carbon credits to offset emissions. Plus, you can benefit by receiving a tax receipt for the fair market value of your cryptocurrency.
It’s easy! Here’s how it works:
1. Fill in this simple cryptocurrency donation form. Indicate the type and amount of cryptocurrency you wish to donate, and provide some personal information so we can process your donation and issue you a tax receipt. While we must collect your information for tax receipt purposes you can choose to remain anonymous to the charity or charities you are donating to.
2. Select the charity or charities you wish to donate to. You can select any of Canada’s 86,000 charities and donate to one or many charities in a single transaction. If you select more than one charity, you choose what proportion goes to each charity.
3. Transfer your cryptocurrency donation to the CanadaHelps wallet using either our QR code or wallet key.
4. We take care of everything else! We promptly sell your cryptocurrency, send you a confirmation email with your charitable tax receipt, and disburse your donation to the charity or charities you selected!
We currently accept bitcoin or ether cryptocurrency donations. They represent the vast majority of cryptocurrency held and they can be exchanged for Canadian dollars quickly and easily. In the future, we may accept other forms of cryptocurrency donations.
Yes, once your cryptocurrency donation has been finalized, you will receive your tax receipt by email. The majority of cryptocurrency donations are completed on the same day.
