Canadians are known around the world for being kind and lending a helping hand to people in need. Last month, CanadaHelps and our partners at GIV3 called on Canadians to celebrate the 5th annual Great Canadian Giving Challenge, a national contest that gave Canadians the chance to win $10,000 for their favourite charity. Canadians from coast to coast to coast answered the call and gave generously, making this our best year yet!
How the Great Canadian Giving Challenge works is simple. Every $1 donated on CanadaHelps.org or GivingChallenge.ca in June enters their chosen charity to win the $10,000 grand prize that is randomly drawn on July 1st, Canada Day! Charities across the country rose to the challenge all month long to encourage their supporters to donate. They launched campaigns, tweeted, sent emails, and called on their supporters to compete fiercely. There was serious competition!
